Governors
On behalf of the Governors of Diss High School, welcome to our school.
Diss High School is part of Enrich Learning Trust, a Multi-Academy Trust, which has overall accountability for the schools within the Trust. However, some of the responsibility is delegated to the Local Governing Board. Further information on Enrich Learning Trust can be found on their website.
The strategic role of our Local Governing Board is to provide the local context and challenge and support to the Headteacher.
The Local Governing Board shall establish a strategic framework for Diss High School by:
- Setting the vision, ethos, aims and objectives for the school
- Reviewing and setting statutory policies for achieving those aims and objectives
- Maintaining the Academy Improvement Plan
- Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils and the performance management of staff
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school subject to the guidance and directives of the trust.
The Local Governing Board shall monitor and evaluate progress in Diss High School towards achievement of the aims and objectives set and regularly review the strategic framework for the school in the light of that progress.
In exercising the functions above, the Local Governing Board shall follow the guidance of the trust to:
- Ensure the school meets all statutory requirements
- (Subject to any other statutory provision) comply with any trust deed relating to the school
- Consider any advice given by the Headteacher
The Governors at Diss High School are volunteers who give freely of their time in working to support the school community to develop personal growth, excellence and achievement for all.
We actively welcome the views of our community including students, parents and staff. The Chair of Governors can be contacted through our email address chairofgov@disshigh.norfolk.sch.uk
Please note Governors are unable to be involved in student specific matters and these should be directed to the school.

Register of Interests September 2024
The Academy Trust Handbook 2023 states:
5.45 The academy trust's register of interests must capture relevant business and pecuniary interests of members, trustees, local governors and senior employees, including:
- directorships, partnerships and employments with businesses
- trusteeships and governorships at other educational institutions and charities
- for each interest: the name and nature of the business, the nature of the interest and the date the interest began
5.46 The register must identify relevant material interests from close family relationships between the academy trust's members, trustees or local governors. It must also identify relevant material interests arising from close family relationships between those individuals and employees.
[A relative is defined as a close member of the family, or member of the same household, who may be expected to influence, or be influenced by, the person. This includes, but is not limited to, a child, parent, spouse or civil partner]
5.47 Trusts should consider whether other interests should be registered, and if in doubt should do so. Boards of trustees must keep their register of interests up-to-date at all times.
5.48 Trusts must publish on their websites relevant business and pecuniary interests of members, trustees, local governors and accounting officers. Trusts have discretion over the publication of interests of other individuals named on the register.
