School Uniform
At Diss High School, we believe that school uniform promotes a sense of belonging, equality and readiness to learn. Students are expected to wear their uniform correctly every day and to present themselves smartly at all times. Uniform will be checked regularly as part of our daily routines.
Year 7 Uniform (from September 2026)
All Year 7 students are required to wear:
- Navy blue school blazer (branded)
- Navy blue V-neck school jumper (branded)
- Plain white shirt
- House tie (colour determined by House)
- Plain black tailored full-length trousers or tailored black shorts
- Plain black, grey or white socks
- Plain black leather shoes
Students may wear a weatherproof coat outdoors. Coats should be removed in classrooms and around the school building unless directed otherwise by a member of staff.
Years 8–11 Uniform
Students in Years 8–11 are required to wear:
- Navy blue official school polo shirt
- Navy blue official school V-neck jumper
- Plain black tailored trousers
- Tailored black shorts (permitted during approved warm-weather periods)
- Plain black, grey or white socks
- Plain black leather shoes
Year 11 Prefects may wear the designated light blue prefect polo shirt.
Footwear
Students must wear plain black leather shoes.
The following are not permitted:
- Trainers of any kind
- Shoes displaying prominent logos
- Backless shoes
- Open-toed sandals
- Platform shoes
- High-heeled shoes
Where a temporary injury prevents a student from wearing normal school shoes, alternative arrangements should be agreed with the school.
Jewellery, Make-up and Appearance
Students are expected to maintain a smart and professional appearance.
Permitted:
- One small stud earring in each ear
- Subtle, natural make-up
Not permitted:
- Facial piercings, including nose studs
- Other visible body piercings
- False eyelashes
- False nails
- Nail varnish
- Excessive make-up
- Extreme hairstyles or unnatural hair colours
The school reserves the right to determine what constitutes an extreme hairstyle or appearance.
Items That Must Not Be Worn
The following items are not part of the school uniform and must not be worn:
- Hoodies
- Sweatshirts worn instead of school uniform
- Denim jackets
- Leather fashion jackets
- Baseball caps (except where specifically authorised)
- Leggings worn as trousers
- Joggers
- Cargo trousers
- Jeans or skinny jeans
- Excessively flared trousers
- Trousers with studs, decorative buttons or other fashion embellishments
- Non-uniform jumpers
Outdoor coats should be sensible, weatherproof and free from offensive slogans or graphics.
PE kit
From September 2026, the only compulsory branded PE item will be the Diss High School PE polo shirt. All other PE kit items may be plain navy/appropriate sportswear and do not need to be branded or purchased from the school supplier. Branded optional PE items may remain available from the supplier, but families are free to purchase suitable unbranded alternatives.
Labelling Uniform
Please ensure that all items of school uniform and PE kit are clearly labelled with your child's name. This greatly assists in returning lost property to its owner.
